Hi, I’m Katra,

and I’m a writer.

I’ve been writing ever since I could write, but the singular point in my life that ignited the writer in me was a first grade writing assignment that required me to write a short story about a leprechaun and create some accompanying illustrations. Neither the writing nor the art were worthy of any recognition, but my first grade teacher ‘published’ all our stories individually into a hardcover book, and there began my obsession with writing stories.

Since childhood, I’ve written poetry: some for preschoolers, some for immature middle schoolers, a lot for angsty, misunderstood teenagers, and a few that I like to think have stood the test of time. I’ve also written fiction, ranging from fantasy and sci-fi to contemporary literature. Nonfiction writing began as an academic necessity and evolved into a passion for science communication.

There is a relentless feeling of nostalgia within me, a longing for familiar worlds that I’ve never actually been to. The stories I write live in those worlds first, but this site is a second home for them. I hope you, too, will find some beauty, comfort, mystique, or other indescribable connection to the strangeness of these worlds and that they awaken a part of you that have only ever surfaced in your dreams.
