It’s darker now and there’s been a freeze as we creep towards the winter solstice. While unpredictable times rumble quietly under the surface, there’s also a gentle warmth of the holiday season gleaming through. The festivities that come with celebrating a dark, cold season lighten the heaviness that ebbs and flows within us, and the comfort of loved ones offer relief from the blues. I think there is something to be said about romanticizing the dimmest of lights, the shortest of days. Is it delusional? Or is it creating joy within yourself?

Landscape with Sheep
I love the texture of the landscape, from the colorful meadow stretching to the sky on the horizon. I interpreted the sky as both a horizon and seascape, and together, the meadow, sky, sea, and flock of sheep reminded me of some coastal regions of Iceland – one of my favorite places in the world.

This movie made me laugh, cry, and become obsessed with the entire soundtrack. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s performances were outstanding, bringing to life classic characters and adding a depth to them that is difficult to find in the aesthetic-centric times we live in.
